In collaboration with Spotty, we transformed their system, enhancing both customer and back-office interfaces to improve the overall user experience across Austria.

The Austrian electricity market is known for its complex messaging protocols between participants, where the lack of clear electronic customer identification often leads to cumbersome processes that hinder automation. Spotty’s legacy system involved extensive manual work, making the onboarding process challenging for both users and back-office staff.

Codeborne’s role: enhancing efficiency and user experience

To support Spotty’s mission, Codeborne brought over 15 years of experience in developing large-scale, mission-critical energy systems. Our work includes projects like data warehouses, smart metering for detailed energy consumption tracking, comprehensive Customer Information Systems, and Virtual Power Plant solutions.

In collaboration with Spotty, one of our main objectives was to automate processes and create flexible systems that could scale the business without increasing back-office costs. We also focused on enhancing the user experience by building an engaging customer app. Together, we upgraded Spotty’s system, improving both customer and back-office interfaces to enhance the user experience across Austria. Codeborne streamlined customer onboarding, billing, debt management, financial reporting, and sales processes.

Smart charging: maximizing savings for users

As part of the holistic energy supply and management app, we introduced Smart Charging, allowing users to automatically charge their electric vehicles during optimal hours based on real-time market prices, providing additional savings.

The collaboration also highlighted the value of intercultural exchange, where diverse perspectives led to innovative ideas. This resulted in exciting product features that make it easier for users to manage their electricity consumption, turning a previously passive experience into an engaging one.
